Way back in 2016 Hulu and Sarah J. Maas announced that Queen of Shadows, the TV adaptation of the Throne of Glass Series, was under development. We are now half way through 2019 and no follow up has been shared by Hulu or Sarah J. Maas. Like, you can go on tumblr and simply read stuff in your mother tongue? Amazing. Go on youtube and you don’t have to replay some sentences ten times to try to understand what they’re saying? Incredible. Look for practically anything on google and know that there will be a fuckton of results that you can read without having to spend half the time looking up words in a dictionary? Fascinating. Make a post or send an ask without panicking that you’ll make a silly mistake or that they won’t understand what you meant? Unbelievable.

I relate to this hard. In my native language it’s so much easier to express myself which, in turn, results in me sounding a lot more eloquent and (emotionally) intelligent. I constantly feel frustrated by my failure to truly convey my thoughts and ideas in English.
👆👆 I feel like I don’t know more than 17 words in english most of the time. 17 words that I put randomly together and hope for the best without really knowing what I’m doing.
the fact that every single anxiously non-native speaker in this post used completely flawless English just breaks my heart
I know my English is pretty good for someone who was only taught it two years ago, but it’s so freaking scary to type stuff and realise that you’re not sure how to spell it, or if the sentence order is correct. Does that word fit there, or does it have a completely different meaning? Half of the time I think in English, yet talking to someone who has it as their mother tongue is freaking terrifying.
It’s really funny that I even have a certificate that basically acknowledges the fact that I am fluent in English and I have a high understanding of the language and am therefore able to express myself with ease and the such, but let me tell you how many words I remember in English once I have to have a conversation with someone or where my fluency goes, because you could swear I’m from the Russian federation and am here to kill you with my bomb ass excuse of an accent. Also I can have really interesting and complex conversations in my head but when I open my mouth I’m like “yea, okay, good, byeeeee”
